Abuja International Housing Show To Hold Political Leaders Summit On Housing
The Abuja International Housing Show (AIHS), is set to hold a one-day summit. The summit will be held alongside the upcoming 16th edition of its annual AIHS event for the media, stakeholders, and professional bodies across various areas in the construction and housing industry
The summit is expected to engage political leaders and aspirants for various political positions ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Speaking at a press briefing, Chief Executive Officer and convener of AIHS, Festus Adebayo, noted that the essence of the summit is to facilitate a round-table discussion to reappraise the housing sector, while also x-raying the challenges of housing in Nigeria.
He said: “We have not been able to get a total headway in the area of affordable housing because majority of our political leaders and public office holders don’t understand the importance of housing. We can’t continue to be talking to ourselves as stakeholders, hence the need to engage them in an open discourse. There is no other time to engage them than now.
“We must reorientate their attitudes towards housing and make them understand that with housing, a lot of jobs can be created. We must let them know that with housing, the economy can be improved. And that’s why we are holding this first political leaders’ summit on housing.”
The summit is scheduled to hold on July 25th 2022, the day one of the anticipated 16th edition of the AISH at the international conference center, Abuja.
Recall that the Abuja international housing show was recently changed to Africa International Housing Show, following the antecedents of the organization in bringing together stakeholders from Africa and other parts of the world to network, interact, and exchange feasible ideas to help develop the sector.
The aforementioned necessitated the slight change in the organization’s name to reflect a wider scope and not only limited to Abuja.
While stating that preparations for the programme are in top gear, he noted that the event is supported by stakeholders in the industry, and all leading housing agencies across the African continent.
AIHS is the promoter of the pioneer housing TV Africa on Africa Independent Television (AIT), TVC, Raypower, and ‘We’ FM. It is also the promoter of the leading housing news website in Africa ‘Africa Housing News’.
